Registration Guidelines

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below.

When choosing your username, do NOT use a "handle" but rather your REAL NAME or a variation of your real name such as:

Jane [FL]
Jane in FL

We ask that you do this in order to keep the family friendly atmosphere of the boards intact. Registrations with "handles"(that includes numbers or additional descriptions to your name) will be removed. Thank you for your cooperation.

Posting Guidelines

POSTING GUIDELINES

The Message Boards on the Five in a Row website have been provided by Steve and Jane Lambert to allow Five in a Row users the opportunity to share ideas, advice, encouragement and support while making new friendships among FIAR users.

By posting on any of our message boards, participating in our chat room, or subscribing to Think on These Things or Rest Stop, you are certifying that you are an adult and not a minor.

Fiveinarow.com reserves the right to add to or delete from these Guidelines as needed. Please check here if you have a question about what can be posted or linked in posts or personal Profiles.

NAME AND EMAIL
Please include your state or country when you register to post on our forums. This is another way to get to know people and also helps when several people with the same name post on the boards. Email addresses must be viewable by others and will be changed back by a FIAR administrator if a user chooses to set an email address as invisible.

ANONYMOUS POSTS
The only board that anonymous posts are allowed on is the Prayer Place. To post anonymously, please use:

Username: Anonymous Prayer Request
Password: praying

Any use of this username outside of the Prayer Place will be deleted.

PRAYER REQUESTS
We cannot verify the validity of prayer requests that have been forwarded via e-mail so please do not post these to the Prayer Place. Post only those requests that you know of personally. If you received the request through e-mail, do not post it on the Prayer Place.

WHAT TO *NEVER* INCLUDE IN YOUR POST
NEVER include your home address or telephone number in your posts. We have no way of knowing who may be viewing these posts from day to day and cannot trust that information posted would never be misused in any way. This includes requesting pen pals for your children.

FOCUS OF THE FIVE IN A ROW MESSAGE BOARDS
The Five in a Row message boards are meant to provide a forum for homeschoolers to share their successes, trials, ideas and frustrations in return for encouragement, understanding, friendship and laughter. We reserve the right to delete posts or topics that threaten this objective.

"FOR SALE" POSTS
Not allowed. There are many boards on the internet that provide a forum for selling and buying books and curricula.

One exception! When FIARowers come across OOP (out of print) FIAR books for a good price, it is allowed to share these finds on the Message Board. Once the book(s) are sold, the FIAR Moderator will remove the posts. If you are unsure about posting, please email either the Lamberts or Jessica Vega (FIAR Webmaster).

Rare exception! Occasionally a FIARower will come across an incredible price for in-print FIAR books and buy them so other FIARowers can take advantage of the savings. In these cases, please email the Lamberts for permission to do so. Once you have received permission to post these books, please mention in the post that you received the go-ahead from them.

Out-of-Print Books on Auction Sites. We no longer allow posts about these auctions on the Five in a Row message boards.

BUYING/SELLING ETIQUETTE
If you have committed to either end of a buying/selling agreement, you are responsible to follow through and not withhold either a payment or a book. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you cannot follow through, please contact the other party as soon as possible to make other arrangements.

CROSS-POSTING
Cross-posting is when a post of almost identical question or comment is posted on more than one board. Cross-posting is reserved for announcements made by Staff only. Please post your question/comment on one board only. If your post is not on the most appropriate board, the staff will move it for you in order to insure you receive helpful replies in a timely manner.

DELETED POSTS
Inappropriate posts will be deleted by a FIAR Website Administrator or the Forum Moderator. In some cases, the person who posted will be emailed personally with an explanation. If you have questions about deleted posts, please email the moderator of the forum from which your post was removed for an explanation.

Advertisements are not allowed on the message boards. This includes ads from the seller, promotion of the seller's website (by the author or owner), and posts written by an enthusiastic user when the post appears to be more of an advertisement than a review. These will be deleted and no email will be sent in these cases.

"EXTRA" IDEAS
Please do not post asking for extra ideas for B4, FIAR, or Beyond books without FIRST reading the lesson plans prepared by Jane or Becky. They have spent many hours preparing these lessons and there are more ideas and activities listed for each book than you will be able to utilize in one study.

OTHER CURRICULA POSTS
Discussions about other curricula should be posted on The Three R's Board. We prefer that posts comparing Five in a Row to other unit study curricula be kept to a minimum and preferably be posted on the Christian Homeschool Fellowship boards. Most unit study programs have their own websites as well as message boards. Please do not use the Five in a Row message boards to promote other literature-based or unit study programs.

POSTING E-MAIL CONTENTS
We all receive cute e-mails from time-to-time that are just begging to be posted. What we need to remember, however, is that all e-mails, from the moment they are written, are copyrighted material. So please, let's just leave the e-mail contents where they are - in our e-mail boxes. Thank you for not posting e-mail contents to the boards.

ADDING LINKS WITHIN POSTS
You may add links to other websites that pertain to the subject matter of the FIAR books.

Advertisements are not allowed on the message boards. Do not link a website for profit or advertising purposes. This includes ads from the seller, promotion of the seller's website (by the author or owner), and posts written by an enthusiastic user when the post appears to be more of an advertisement than a review. (See DELETED POSTS above.)

Five in a Row cannot be responsible for the content on personal homepages and other websites linked to a post. For this reason it is preferred that links specifically relate to FIAR on the Message Board and to family-viewing content on The Family Room Board.

LINKING HOMEPAGES OR OTHER WEB SITES IN PROFILES
You may link your homepage as part of your Profile. Do not link your homepage within a post (other than it being part of your Profile) unless there is a specific purpose, such as listing helpful websites, etc.

Homepages that promote products and sales are not allowed in registration profiles.

Do not link a website other than your personal homepage in your Profile. It will be removed.

Do not link your child's personal website in your posts.

SIGNATURE LINES WITHIN POSTS
Signature lines should be restricted to THREE LINES only. Should a signature line be longer and/or inappropriate, it will be removed or changed.
