Default Favorite Chapter Books for Young Girls??

My oldest granddaughters are 7 and 8. The 7 year-old especially loves to read, and devours chapter books. What recommendations do you have that your girls around this age love to read? I'm also interested in any books that are in a series.

Alicia, there are loads of fun chapter books out there for little girls

Some of my girls' favorites ....

The Fairy books by Daisy Meadows -- there are a large number of series -- I think 8 in each series -- music fairies, ocean fairies, jewel fairies (I think those were the first), etc.

The Ivy and Bean books are super fun!

    The Judy Moody books

A newer series that little girls enjoy (mine never read these because they're new) is the Owl Diaries

The Story Thieves series -- might be a bit older, but I'm not sure????

The Boxcar Children series is great for boys and girls

By 9-10, the Nancy Drew books and Trixie Belden books

by 8-9, The Little House on the Prairie series

    The Doll People

    The Indian in the Cupboard

My daughter loved the Betsy Tacy & Tib series (and it was one of my favorites too), The Four Story Mistake-Elizabeth Enright series, and of course Little House on the Prairie.

Thank you Paige and Heidi!! I had 3 sons, but now have 4 granddaughters, so I need suggestions.

Paige ~ Did your girls read Indian in the Cupboard? My son loved that book when he was little, but I didn't know if girls would like it.

Alicia, I read it aloud to them at some point, and they liked it

    I remember reading:
    The borrowers series
The Enid blyton series (the five.... and the secret island). Again, I read some of those aloud to my d.

I think those are a bit older

My dd loves mysteries, and so Nancy Drew, the Bobbsey Twins (she started with these before Nancy Drew), the Mandie books. She also loves fantasy and read the Narnia series. After that she read a number of other fantasy books, but they were much bigger and I suspect most 8 year olds wouldn't read them yet unless they extremely loved fantasy. Additionally she liked the Trailblazer books by Dave and Neta Jackson, and all series by Beverly Cleary (Ramona series, Henry series, Mouse and Motorcycle series) and the Littles.
