This Week's Challenge: Bedrooms! Vacuum, dust, hoe out, wash bedding, organize, etc. This challenge is for all bedrooms including the master bedroom.

School Challenge: Book Tuesday! Hoe out some books, rearrange, introduce new books, read aloud, and continue reading challenges for the week.

    Inspiring Thought:

    For me today:
    • PTE
    • grocery store
    • school time
    • school planning- catch up my planner
    • work on robot characterization with Joshua
    • read aloud
    • blog work
    • laundry
    • call my dad
    • prep for book club
    • book club 7-9 PM
    • group work- more reminders
    • flying time?- this conflicts with book club, so I'd have to work something out (one car probs)

Happy to see the sun this morning!

Praying for all of you to have a wonderful day!

    Good morning!

Heather, I'm not sure if the change was national or statewide. I think they made it because kids were turning 9 in the middle of the school year and technically eligible to do a record book, etc. and some would end up with much more time than others to work on their project area work. So now if they are 8 and in 3rd grade they are considered regular 4Hers. I would also feel more positive about it if our leader didn't disagree with me (and pretty much everyone else) about what exactly her project area covers...Ugh. But we will make it work and choose something else next year!

    It's our busy day out!
    *laundry--going now
    *pack lunches
    *pack some school for dd
    *soup in the crock pot
*IEW/school with dd/go over record books with another mom
    *boot camp check in

IEW will end next week and then PE ends a couple of weeks after that so our Tuesdays will be very different soon! I'm ready for the break!

Have a great day today, friends!

    Good Morning Ladies,

We didn't get home from the softball game until 10pm! Craziness!
Hannah's team lost, but they really only had one bad inning and rallied the last two innings, but not enough to win.
Softball is interesting, I'm finding it very different that baseball in some ways.

HW - I saw your note about Fred. Yes, I meant pre-algerbra - there are so many algerbras! Thanks for the comment. I was planning on starting with Pre-Algerbra 1 because the consensus on the FB page seems to be that pre-algerbra 0 is the hardest. He wrote that one last, right? Thanks for the heads' up about opinions in economics, know I can't wait to see what they are - ha!

CH1: I won't have much time to work on this today, but I do have a clothes pile that needs tending to!

CH2: We may swing by the library between baseball and softball practice, if time permits.

    IT -what a great reminder!

All the kids slept in a bit after the late night.

    so far:
    Bible reading
    started laundry
exercised - this is making us start school late, but yesterday I never got to it, so....
started girls on school, but I am not sure how much they are doing.

    up next:
    table time
    individual work
    more laundry
    general picking up

**Tuesday nights both Hannah and Logan have practice. Logan's practice is from 5:15-7:15 and Hannah's is from 7:30-9:30, but on a field about 15-20 minutes away from Logan's field. Both coaches generally end practice early, but the teams get the field fro 2 hours each. So far this season a lot of the practices have been cancelled due to cold temps. The general plan is for one of us to take Logan and then for the other to meet at the field with Hannah and then take Logan home. Tonight, however, Dan has a meeting at church which means I will be responsible for all 4 hours of ball practice!!!
Dan may be able to take Ashlyn with him, which would spare her the practice.

I better get going - we have a lot to do!

    - - - Updated - - -

HW - What book is your book club reading?

Jen - What kind of soup are you making today?

AR- My kids and I disagree with the FB assessment! Physics is the easiest. I would say not insignificantly. Rebecca did physics, but it was written after the other two so she did it last. The younger boys did Physics first. Even Isaac says it was the easiest.

My homeschool book club is reading Better Together. Wish I'd realized it was a second edition of her Morning Time eBook, but whatever. They voted out of many choices and this came up highest with Mere Motherhood behind it. I'm not sure how many are coming. Only two have said so, but we'll see how many show up.

Jen- This is one reason I enjoy being an independent 4-H family. We do not deal with clubs or club leaders. What is the contention of the project area?

    So far:
    • worked on one of the last lessons in the first course
    • worked in PTE
    • work drop
    • grocery store- the old fashioned shopping way. No pick up services around here!
    • groceries are in and away
    • started on school- math was done by 1 when I arrived home, but he plans to revisit it.
    • forwarded information to E- who is turning in his forms today and gave him a shot at CTC calculus for brain therapy

I need to get my book picture of the day. I was waiting because the really fun tree books are in R's room.

Right now I'm thoroughly enjoying the sunshine in the school room.

Well, having devoted the overwhelming majority of the day to trying to get my Lularoe financial records in order, I have conceded defeat for the time being. The numbers just don't work. And I don't know why. And since this is not 2017 information, my accountant friend does NOT want to hear from me at the moment. Understandably.

    So far today:

    • Up, showered, dressed & ready for the day.
    • Tidied the downstairs; apparently no one did.
    • Emptied/reloaded dishwasher; hand-washed a few.
    • Mostly futile attempt at a quiet time.
    • Confirmed dinner plans with TJ (he's cooking).
    • Guys left for Harrisburg to chase a train.
    • Woke Phoebe; tossed some Norwex clothes in washer.
    • Made bed; tidied bedroom & bathroom.
    • Orthodontist. Getting closer. But not yet.
    • Car wash. Vacuumed out car. Mud. Ugh.
    • Back home to regroup. Advanced laundry.
    • Finished ordering new LLR business cards.
    • Reviewed credit reports with identity theft specialist.
    • Sold a skirt; packed up for shipping later.
    • Did our registration for co-op next fall.
    • Emailed Dave's secretary about car rental issue.
    • Added to list of things to do. Sigh.
    • Did a bunch of Lula work on FB.
    • Worked on & off on re-inputting financials.
    • Followed up on essential oils questions.
    • Made new dinner plan (some went out).
    • Chiropractor's appointment.
    • Watched an episode of West Wing with TJ.
    • Ongoing inputting of data throughout.
    • Did more online FB work; placed inventory order.

And that's it. I'll putter around a little bit tidying, but the reality is that I'm at my target bedtime and I need to follow through. So I'm pretty much done.

    Hey all

Cari -- sorry about the Identity theft I dealt with that last year.... UGH!

Jen -- UGH about the 4-H book! not fun!

Angela -- and 4 hours of ball practice doesn't sound fun, either

    Heather -- enjoy the sunshine!

    * I have plenty of "not fun" Mama stuff going on, too
-- we had another day of standardized testing this morning. M. is finished. Cale has tomorrow to go. Ben isn't testing yet, and K is doing ACTs, not Iowa.
-- ran by our neighbors for the boys to feed their animals
-- home for a couple of hours
-- then I drive K. to my sil's for math ACT prep. Should be home about 9:30 tonight (more not fun stuff, but stuff that needs to be done).

This seems to be my week, but so it goes with testing weeks.

Kids are eating lunch and watching a Dr. Who.
I need to swap laundry (got some started before we left this morning -- maybe K switched it?)

My mil is awaiting her kidney removal surgery today -- she's been prepped since 9, and it's now noon, and she still hasn't been taken back. Dr's expecting the surgery to take 2 hours. Ya'll please pray for her if you think of it. Thanks!

Honestly, not much happening except running around and waiting and running some more.
I NEED to work on consignment sale stuff.
I NEED to work on getting stuff spelled out for my parents coming to stay with the kids next week.

I DID finish the book my class is reading for Friday

    That's about it.
Ya'll have a good rest of your day!

    • worked with the boys on school
    • checked in on the robot
    • took my book picture
    • had the dishwasher loaded
    • got R started on her room
    • brought boxes out of my closet- to be broken down (from Easter baskets)
    • had today's laundry started
    • switched the laundry- hung some
    • folded a load of laundry- and farmed it out
    • started working in my lesson again- I hope to get another section done before making dinner

You know what I could use? Some time out on the POH. In a huge way.

But it is like 40* and sometimes it snows. That's not therapeutic.

I am off to get something more finished in this last lesson. Then I will get dinner together. I'd better charge my Kindle for book club tonight.

    Hi Ladies,
We have been busy and at the end of the day, I am too tired to check in here. I am grabbing some time while ds18 is in therapy this afternoon to say hello and that I miss you guys!
Ch1- Boy, do we need this one. Ds14 might be moving into dd22's old room and I would love to do a deep clean before it happens. I would also like to paint the boy's room. Finding the time will be a challenge, though. I think we will have to do it in chunks.
Ch2-We just finished reading The Hatchet. The boys have been critical lately about book choices. Can't seem to please them, but I will try.

Paige- sorry you have "not fun mama stuff" going on. That is the worst and it is so draining! Hope things are better soon.
Cari- I have been waking up earlier too, I am more of a morning person, but I need to be in bed by 10:30 at the latest.
Heather- are you offering some kind of a course? Good for you! I would love to hear about it. Is it for high school by chance?
Angela-you have a busy softball schedule! I hope things work out for you tonight!
Jen- I hope your busy day out is going well. Have you been doing IEW for very long? We are thinking about having ds14 take an online class there. have you been satisfied?
Michelle- how are you doing? How are those sweet boys of yours?

It's April and we still have snow on the ground. It is crazy. We are expecting more this weekend! Our days are busy, but generally good minus occasional teen boy attitudes. I have been so tired lately and that does not help. I just took a walk, hoping that perks me up. Lots of emotional stuff too. A dear friend of mine was just diagnosed with cancer. She lives right behind me and our kids grew up together. If you could pray for her, I would greatly appreciate it. Her name is Michelle.

Ds18 just had a power soccer tournament this weekend and that was really fun. Ds14 has been side refereeing for the games and next fall will go through training to be a center ref. He gets paid and that's great because he really wants a job. He won't have lots of referee opportunities, but it is a start!
Dd22 got accepted into the nursing program she wanted and starts in the fall.
We are trying to get the boys through the school year. Trying to focus more on my relationship with ds14. He has a harder time with school, just trying to love him. he is in the "don't touch me" stage .

We haven't been doing much other than the basics and ds18's therapy. We started going to our nat'l soccer team's games and that has been fun. Ds14 starts rec soccer in May. Kind of keeping to ourselves.

I hope you are all doing well! Miss you.

Angela=- I have taken a break from crochet and I am going to try knitting again. Ds18 bought me needles, yarn and a book for my birthday

    Enjoy the day!

Praying for Michelle, Amy! And yay for your dd and nursing school!! Ds has been in an IEW class (taught by Mr. P) since the fall. I am very satisfied with his progress--and now he is, too. I know it's formulaic for some, but it's been a big help for ds because he has lots of ideas, but needed help with organization. They require them to put a certain kinds of dress-ups in their papers which has required him to slow down and think through the way he wants to phrase things. I'm pleased with it and he's decided to continue next year.

We're back from our out stuff--at least until swimming. We're going to do a bit of school until it's time to go!

AMY congrats to your dd -- that's fantastic! and on boys. They're definitely different from girls

    My afternoon changed ......
Scrat got bitten by a copperhead sometime this afternoon. Right as I was getting ready to leave with K., he came to the back door, and you could tell something was wrong. His muzzle and neck were all swollen. I figured what happened but knew that dogs are usually okay. So, K and I left. By the time we got 25 minutes away (just outside of town), M called and said the dog was dripping blood from his mouth and nose. A friend (who knows dogs) called at the same time -- when I told her, she told me to take him to the vet asap. So, I turned around, drove home, got the dog and Cale, and zipped to the vet (20 minutes away). 4 shots (no antivenom needed -- dogs usually don't, and it's just as well because that would have been about $1000, and Jim might have killed me ) later and a prescription for antibiotics and pain (and $200), they think he's going to be okay. I have to watch for decaying and oozing flesh, and if I see that, I have to take him back. Meanwhile, he's in pain and is totally out of it right now. Poor puppy.

So, we're home for the evening at this point.
Dh is on his way back from OK (a quick trip yesterday/today) and will get home late tonight.

Life is never dull, ya'll. Just in case you didn't know that yourselves
