So very late to reply, summer is almost over...

Over the last couple of years, both of my high school students were given a Bible in their chosen language. Part of their assignments(not as often as I would have liked ) was to try to translate a verse into the language and then try to find it in their foreign language Bible and copy the correct translation. They also had to translate the correct translation back into English to see if it was the "same" word for word. Bekah has a Russian Bible and Nicholas has a Greek Bible.

And I want to say that Duolingo is an excellent resource! My two both agreed that they learned and retained far more with Duolingo that RS. Rebekah has been studying Russian for a few years and is very motivated and she could get around if dropped into Russia. Nicholas was not quite as motivated, but he could probably stumble along with poor grammar. He has the vocab, but his mechanics may not be up to snuff.
