Just checking in!
I have two business-y phone calls to return yet, but I just got off a call with Mom's facility; we are going to have a family conference (my sister will attend via the phone) on Tuesday. The prom meeting went well.
We had a couple of sunny, warmish hours this afternoon, so Boyo and I got done what we could on the coop to give the hens some more heat. DH called and said the word in the street is that we'll be down to 14 degrees by Monday night. If it gets that cold, we'll move them inside in a dog crate.
The good news is that, though we will sorely miss them, Robb and crew are on to other pastures. Plumbing is fixed. Hopefully nothing new will happen with my pipes. So now, we re-group. The mudroom and powder room ceilings will need to be drywalled and painted. We have to either drywall the powder room wall or something else, then paint and rehang the light fixture.
The pantry is the big issue. The shelves are built in. While their arrangement wasn't perfect, it held everything. Now, two of the three longest shelves are gone; one is too damaged to reuse. As well, there are huge holes in the wall and ceiling. And it's filthy. I don't know if I can even get the remaining shelves free from the sludge stains (fortunately these pipes are only from tubs / sinks, but still). I was going to get in there and clean and put back what I could but I don't even know if I should start. Waiting until DH gets home so we can make a plan.
Meanwhile, the kitchen surfaces are completely covered, including the island where the cook top is. Twice today fires almost started during cooking from things that encroached on the burners. Obviously getting that area cleaned off is a priority.
But at least we can begin.
